To update your downloaded appliance to the latest rpath build, play your VM and go to your VM's web appliance management interface and check for an update.

Using Firefox (or an equivalent standards compliant browser)

  1. Load https://<your.vm.ip.address>:8003
  2. If this is your first time logging in, login with DeveloperPasswords (rPath Web App).
  3. If you haven't run this interface before, it will guide you through an initial set-up.
  4. When the setup is over (if it was needed), click on the "Updates" button along the top, or the "Updates" link in the left sidebar.
  5. Click the "Check for Updates" button.
  6. When that is done, click the "OK" button.
  7. A system update should have been found, and there should be an option to "apply update". Do that.
  8. Wait a while, then reload the interface.
  9. Check that Tomcat is running on 8080.
  10. Open the Tomcat manager interface, using DeveloperPasswords (Tomcat).
  11. Check that Gather and Pentaho are both running. Try 'em out.

That's right, ten (10) easy steps.

NOTE: you may get a weird error with the entitlement key the first time you login to the rPath updater web app. If this happens, update manually the first time and the problem should be resolved. To do this, simply login with DeveloperPasswords (Gather VM) to the Linux environment and type

conary updateall --replace-files
